Fear…Reframe It and Go For It!

Fall brings an opportunity to create and embrace change in both your business and your life. It’s a time to clear out the clutter (mental and physical), try new things, self correct on what’s working and not working in your life and reset goals to finish the year strong.

For me change means new opportunities. For others it can mean being stuck and getting in your own way. Depending on which way you view it, the feeling can be both exciting and scary at the same time. It’s normal to experience both of these feelings. It’s important to push through your fear and to be open to and explore new possibilities. Getting out of your comfort zone, can be very uncomfortable!

Why…why…why is it so darn uncomfortable?

Whether we want to admit it or not, the answer is simple…because we are not in control. I’d love for you to try something with me. Just for a few minutes. What would it feel like to simply surrender to the feeling of not being in control? Just sort of give it up...to God, to the Universe, to Spirit…Now, simply trust that you’re exactly where your suppose to be. Trust yourself to handle the process of change.

There’s a quote that goes something like this…If you want to be happy in life you need to control the sail of your boat and not the wind. So ultimately, it’s how you respond to the change. Because you can only control yourself, your beautiful big sail and not the world around you, the big blue ocean.

Here are four steps that can really help you breakthrough the fears that surround change… The faster your move through the steps, the faster you surrender and pass right through your fear. Acknowledge, Look, Reframe and Go!

  1. Acknowledge it: Take a minute to really acknowledge that you are uncomfortable. Look at why you’re upset and what you think the result of the change is going to be in your life, your business, your world.
  2. Next…Look at other possibilities: Even though your first thoughts may have been worry and discomfort, think about what other positive possibilities change could bring. Ask yourself…What’s another way to look at this? What are some other possible outcomes?
  3. Reframe it: Think of it in a new way: Here’s the fun part. You can reframe the feeling and outcome anyway you’d like. It doesn’t have to be fear and upset…maybe it’s excitement and curiosity.
  4. Go for it and always Play Big With Heart and Hustle: The only thing that ever holds you back is you. At any point in time you can choose to feel the fear…brainstorm other possible outcomes…reframe it and go for it. At the end of the day, the only thing that you are in control of you…it’s you who gets to choose!
